MAGICAL NIGHT FOR MARIST

Marist showed some magic of their own when they took on North Harbour in double headers in the National Mens and Womens Water Polo League at the Millennium Institute Pool tonight.

The Marist Magic Women continued their unbeaten run with a 10-6 win over the North Harbour Knights in a close encounter that wasnt reflected by the final scoreline. The two sides battled it out through the first three quarters at 2-2 ; 5-4(Marist) and 7-5 before Marist got the edge over the North Harbour team in the final quarter. Lisa Van Raalte led the charge for Marist with 5 goals whilst Tess Monash and Lynley Smith claimed 2 apiece for North Harbour.
Marist Men reversed their first round one goal loss to North Harbour with a one goal win 7-6 in the mens encounter. Both sides level-pegged all the way with the scores locked at 3 all and then5-4 in Harbour's favour at the half way mark. Neither team scored in the third quarter whilst Marist drew level in the final quarter and then put the winning break on North Harbour with a Josh Campbell goal inside the final 30 seconds. North Harbour came periously close to levelling in the dying seconds but the ball ended in a scramble in front of the Marist goal mouth. The Broome brothers - Dave (3) and Chris (2) led the North Harbour attack well whilst John Ware netted twice for Marist. Both teams now take on the high flying Hawks over the weekend.
