Marist nailed a 5-0 lead before Maranui came back with a goal just before the end of the first quarter to trail 1-5 - a lead extended to 9-3 by half time with Maranui not able to capitalise on the number of extra man situations they had.
Maranui made a brief comeback in the third quarter to close the gap to a 5 goal margin but Marist came away in the final stages scoring 8 goals to 1 to win by 18-6. John Ware topped the Marist scoring with 6 goals and Matt Reid chimed in with 4. Maranui now face Harbour City tommorrow at the WRAC ( 12.15pm) and the Marist contigent take on the Hutt Heat in the Cauldron at Huia tommorrow night at 8.15pm with Hutt starting the proceedings with a magic show at 6pm followed by the Womens match between the Hutt Pelorus Dolphins and Marist ; then the Mens game. Other matches tommorrow include the QE11 Crushers hosting the North Harbour teams in Christchurch at 12.30 and 1.34pm and Waitakere hosting Tauranga at West Wave at 2.30pm |
